Gucci Mane working on plea deal to avoid gun possession trial

Gucci Mane is looking to cut a deal with federal prosecutors in his felony gun possession case.

Court documents obtained by RadarOnline show that the rapper's lawyers and U.S. attorneys asked an Atlanta judge to postpone Gucci's April 15th trial as they work out a plea deal.  The papers say that "all parties anticipate resolution without the need of a trial."

A plea bargain will likely help Gucci Mane -- born Radric Davis -- avoid a possible 20-year prison sentence for two counts of felony gun possession by a felon. Apparently, the two camps had been unable to finalize a deal before the April 15th trial because of scheduling conflicts.

Last year, Gucci Mane's erratic behavior reached a climax when a friend called police on him.  The officers discovered marijuana and a gun on him.
